Cozumel is one of the largest and most populated islands in Mexico (500 km2), a Caribbean paradise on the coast of the State of Quintana Roo on the Riviera Maya strip.

The tourist interest it arouses and the continuous influx of cruise ships makes it one of the most visited, due to the well-earned fame of its paradisiacal condition.

Its reef is one of the most famous in the world (and extensive at more than 30 km), especially promoted by the oceanographer Jean Jacques Cousteau, who recorded a documentary about underwater life in 1961. Mayan settlement related to rites of worship to the gods - you can visit the San Gervasio Archaeological Zone - the island of Cozumel was sighted by Juan de Grijalva in 1518, but it was not continuously inhabited for centuries. Privateers such as Jean Laffite used it as a point of refuge, or docking point in trade towards Europe.

San Miguel is the largest town on the island, where commercial stores, vehicle rentals, nightlife, restaurants are concentrated, and from here there are three routes to explore Cozumel. Some streets are decorated with huge graffiti murals from the SEA Walls project, Murals For The Oceans, painted by international artists.
